Diary

Dear Readers,

It's been utter Bedlam chez Wells since the beginning of the year, what with house renovations, moving and the Junior School Easter Parade Debacle, among other memorable events! But I'm delighted to say that the mayhem doesn't stop there because 4 May sees the release of SWEETEST LITTLE SIN, a sexy, action packed spy thriller that stars reader favourites Lady Louisa Brooke and that ruthless bad boy of the Beau Monde, the Marquis of Jardine.

SWEETEST LITTLE SIN is unlike my other historical romances, because it features two beloved secondary characters from THE DANGEROUS DUKE. I had meant to give Jardine and Louisa their happy ending in TDD but I found they had far too many issues to wrap them up neatly with a bow by the final pages of that story. Their relationship was so dynamic and complex, they simply demanded their own book.

I hope you will rush to the bookstores and purchase your own copy of SWEETEST LITTLE SIN, but if you're feeling lucky (Hmm, having a Dirty Harry moment, here!) do join me on one of my web appearances for a chance to win a signed copy.

And if you do happen to read SWEETEST LITTLE SIN, drop me a line and let me know how you liked it. I'd love to hear from you.

Yours, as always,

April 2010

P.S. THE DANGEROUS DUKE has been released in The Netherlands – Isn't that a fabulous cover? So romantic!

Hallo allemaal!! (I'm told this means "hello everyone!" in Dutch :)

Dutch Cover

One reason I love receiving reader mail is that I get to chat with people from all over the world. The bulk of my readership is in the United States and Australia, but lovely messages come from everywhere there are bookstores and romance readers. Until now, my readers were all English speakers to some degree, but that is about to change.

A month ago, a reader friend in The Netherlands, Hannie, wrote to tell me that my first novel, SCANDAL'S DAUGHTER has been translated into Dutch. This was such a welcome surprise! I love the cover--so sensual – and do I detect a faint resemblance to David Boreanz in that hero? The title they chose, "Meer dan vriendschap" translates to "More than Friendship", which is perfect for this friends to lovers story. If you can read Dutch, the blurb is here:[link] Meer dan vriendschap is out now, so if you're in The Netherlands, keep your eye out for it!

My lovely friend Hannie runs a readers forum online, and some of the forum members met in person earlier this year. Above is the photo of Hannie and her friends. They look like they're having a good time, don't they? Many of them read romance novels in English but others wait for the Dutch translations. This is what one reader, Saskia, had to say about Meer dan vriendschap:

Het is een prachtig verhaal over twee mensen met vastomlijnde doelen in het leven die er langzaam achter komen dat die ambities zonder liefde maar weinig waard zijn. De laatste hoofdstukken waren zo harverscheurend, zo bitterzoet dat ik met tranen in mijn ogen zat te lezen. (Translation: It is a beautiful story about two people which have both personal goals and they will find out that their ambitions are nothing without their love. The last few chapters are so heartbreaking and bitter-sweet that I read it with tears in my eyes.) Thank you, Saskia!

I recently received more good news – The Dangerous Duke will be translated into Dutch also, and Scandal's Daughter will be translated into Portuguese for the Brazilian market as well as Russian!

In other news, I'm hard at work on a new series that is so much fun, I can't believe this is supposed to be work! Did I just say that?:) It must be because I'm at the start of the book, and not the dreaded middle yet! I love new beginnings.

I've set up a formal newsletter group, so please join so you can receive updates and there will also be cool prizes to win!

Until next time,

November 2009
